We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Test Lead - Facilities, to be involved in an industry leading, cutting-edge project for a new type of power station.

Job Purpose:

The Development Engineering organisation is accountable for proving that the SMR power station design meets its objectives and requirements. This encompasses not just the domain of nuclear engineering, but the broader range of engineering functions necessary to deliver a major infrastructure project. The team's remit includes defining the Verification Strategy for the power station, and also executing any verification activities that involve testing - and these range from laboratory-type tests through to highly complex system-level rig tests in some world-leading facilities.

We now have an opportunity for a Test Lead to lead an element our test facilities strategy. Initially focused on delivering a facility for our Control Room Demonstrator, the role will also capture and manage requirements from multiple stakeholders for future development facilities and manage their deployment.

Key Results & What Can Be Achieved in The Role:

Reporting to the Testing Manager, the Test Lead will lead one or more strands of our Development Test Facilities strategy. The teams scope currently includes a facility to host a demonstrator control room, and requirements scoping for a facility which will incorporate our control room simulator.

  • They will define and manage requirements based on inputs from Engineering, Verification, Property, Manufacturing, Regulatory Affairs, Business Development, Finance, etc.
  • They will integrate and own the plan to ensure delivery to cost, quality and schedule.
  • They will build and lead a cross-functional project team.
  • They will ensure risks and lessons learnt are managed throughout.
  • They will work with the supply chain team to establish and maintain relationships with external partners for the execution of their test and will act as the primary intelligent customer during this relationship.
  • They will drive delivery through the entire test lifecycle and demonstrate maturity at governance reviews.
  • They will drive for continuous improvement within their team.
  • Indirect reports through leading an integrated project team.
  • Budget likely to be several million pounds annually.

The Key Selection Criteria:

Test Development

  1. Experience in the execution of test programmes to ensure they generate the required verification or validation evidence, including as applicable through scaled tests or sub-element testing. Experience in building and leading cross functional teams who deliver.

Test Facility Management

  1. Knowledge and experience of test facilities for instrumentation and control or process systems.

Presenting Information to stakeholders

  1. Experience in taking information, understanding, and presenting it in an appropriate and compelling format, which includes formal communications such as gate reviews to the appropriate stakeholders.

Problem solving

  1. Ability to identify risk or issues early and proactively resolve them with minimal supervision.

Project Management

  1. Experience in building and leading cross functional project teams. Ability to develop and maintain robust plans and budget. Drive for delivery to committed time and cost.

Qualifications & Training:

  • Previous experience in facilities management or facility improvements.
  • Structured approach to developing requirements and working through a governance processes.
  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent in relevant discipline.
  • Be professionally recognised through an appropriate professional body or be working towards it.

Pay and Benefits

We anticipate paying a salary of between 50,000 - 60,000 plus:-

  • Bonus - Performance related bonus of up to 12.5%
  • Benefits Allowance - 2200, enabling you to create a bespoke package
  • Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
  • Holidays - 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days
  • Private Medical Insurance - BUPA single cover health care
  • Life Assurance - 6x pensionable pay
  • 250 - One-off payment for new starters for home office purchases
