Mech Tech Professionals have an opportunity available for an Electrical Designer to take on a full-time position within the pharmaceutical sector based in Macclesfield, Cheshire East.

Our client, one of the UK's largest design and build contractors within the Water, Pharmaceutical, Power & energy, Nuclear and Food & Beverage industries require a competent professional to join their team immediately.

The shift pattern will be 40 hours per week.

Overview:

The Electrical Designer will provide technical support for the design of projects and frameworks across all industry sectors. Whilst reporting to the Group Design Manager, the role will consist of providing effective, efficient and accurate Electrical and Instrumentation engineering design services.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • The generation of electrical installation deliverables in compliance with BS7671 IEE Wiring Regulations and client specifications
  • The production of documentation in accordance with defined standards / quality requirement
  • Provision of 2D and 3D Design Deliverables, GAs, equipment layouts and cable/containment routing diagrams
  • Carrying out Site surveys as and when required
  • Supporting the effective delivery of projects to time ensuring quality, and cost targets are met together with the ability to multi-task and prioritise
  • Leading the improvement of performance by seeking, reviewing and applying innovative solutions
  • Interfacing with other disciplines such as Mechanical, Process, HVAC and Civil

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications required:

  • HNC or Degree in a technical engineering discipline or related subject(s)
  • Great knowledge of IEE Wiring Regulations BS7671 - 18th Edition
  • Vast experience (ideally 5 years minimum) in a relevant design role including the successful delivery of electrical installation designs within projects for the water utility sector
  • Familiarity with hazardous area(s) design together with hazardous area protection principals and generation of associated documentation i.e. Intrinsically safe calculations and hazardous area inspection schedules
  • Experience of E&I design best practices
  • Familiarity with CDM Regulations 2015
  • Instrumentation Loop diagrams & Cable calculations
  • Working knowledge of 3D software i.e. Revit, Navis
  • Single line diagrams (LVC and Instrumentation)
  • Cable block diagrams (Power and Instrumentation)
  • Other
