Senior EC&I Engineer Aldermaston / Hybrid Contract role 55-60/hour outside IR35 Are you an experienced EC&I Engineer looking to work on complex and meaningful projects in the nuclear sector? We're seeking a highly motivated Senior EC&I Engineer to join our team delivering challenging and rewarding work supporting the UK's nuclear industry. You'll contribute to the full project lifecycle, from concept design to commissioning, working in a collaborative environment that values technical excellence, integrity, and continuous professional development. What You'll Be Doing EC&I Design & Delivery - Develop CE&I design concepts (SLDs, BCDs, cable schedules, layouts, etc.)
- Work with control system hardware and software
- Apply knowledge of Functional Safety (BSEN 61508 & 61511)
- Produce designs meeting relevant British and European standards and client requirements
- Maintain LTQR / Technical File in line with quality management systems
- Address operability, maintainability, and safety within designs
- Deliver designs on time and within budget
- Write design justification reports mitigating technical risks
- Create functional safety and controls design documentation (FDS, SIDD, Functional Safety Plan)
- Produce drawings, specifications, and work instructions to enable manufacturing
- Review in-house and subcontract drawings
- Develop CE&I technical specifications and commissioning documentation (FAT, SAT)
- Manage subcontract suppliers
- Attend and witness commissioning activities
- Interpret and create EC&I engineering drawings using AutoCAD
- Author engineering reports (basis of design, substantiation reports, calculations)
- Experience with EC&I design is essential; safety interlock design is preferred
- HVAC control systems experience is highly desirable

About You - Person Specification Qualifications
- Relevant Engineering Degree, HNC, or demonstrable equivalent experience (Essential)
- Membership of an appropriate technical/professional body (Desirable)
- IOSH Managing Safely or Level 2 Health & Safety qualification (or equivalent)
Experience & Knowledge - Broad-based engineering experience in design and manufacturing (Essential)
- Electrical systems design (Essential)
- Low voltage control gear (Essential)
- Control systems experience (Essential)
- Knowledge of drawing principles and standards (Desirable)
- Understanding of CE marking requirements (Desirable)
- AutoCAD proficiency (Desirable)
- Machine Safety Directives/functional safety knowledge (Desirable)
- HAZOP/HAZID experience (Desirable)
