Technical Lead - ROR 1241GRE
Sizewell C, Bristol

The Technical Directorate (TD) represents a strategic consolidation of technical and engineering capability for design delivery, oversight and governance. This directorate is instrumental in orchestrating comprehensive technical management across various engineering disciplines, ensuring that all engineering activities align with the highest standards of safety, quality, performance, and efficiency. At a high level, the TD supports and enforces SZCs key business case pillar of replication. It serves as the nucleus for technical decision-making, integrating engineering methodologies and tools, overseeing rigorous compliance protocols and ensuring principles of configuration management are defined and maintained. It owns and produces the safety cases on behalf of SZC through the Design Authority function.
The Transverse Technical team is responsible for the management of SZCs key technical risks, identifying and managing the implementation of opportunities and overseeing issue resolution. It also manages cross-cutting topics such as Intellectual Property (IP), Export Controls (EC) and Requirements Management (RM). Drawing upon expertise from across the SZC project, the EPR fleet and SZCs strategic technical partners the TT team serves as a catch-all resource for coordinating and supporting the resolution of large-scale and cross-programme issues. Acting as a _Strategic Response Team_, it supports the strategic-level delivery of engineering management activities with a focus on managing strategic risks and opportunities to ensure proactive and consistent resolution in support of the SZC programme.
As the Technical ROR Lead, A key aspect of your role will be leading on the resolution of priority technical topics, whilst taking into consideration the balance of risk and opportunity as part of the SZC replication strategy.
You will be responsible for leading on the resolution of potentially large and complex transverse technical and project problems. The role will include horizon scanning for technical project risks, issues and opportunities and proactively leading the resolution of priority topics across the projects technical scope. The complexity of the solutions, stakeholders involved and potential impact on the safety substantiation, design or construction of the SZC project is significant. As such the processes and relationships across interfaces will be critical to support a UK EPR fleet approach and underpin replication of the Hinkley Point C (HPC) design into SZC (e.g. with the delivery programmes, the SZC alliances, the EPR responsible designers and with the technical expertise from Nuclear Services and HPC.
This is an excellent opportunity within the SZC project, a follow-on power station from HPC.
