Planner - Nuclear Projects (SC or DV Cleared) Hybrid / Largely Remote -AWE Contract role 55-60 per hour (Outside IR35 pending determination)Project Planner (Contract)
The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Project Planner to provide planning and cost control support on complex projects within a highly regulated environment. This is a contract role based in Aldermaston, supporting project delivery teams through the development, maintenance and reporting of detailed project programmes and cost data. The successful candidate will work closely with Project Managers and key stakeholders, contributing to effective project control across schedule, cost, risk and performance reporting.
Key Responsibilities - Develop, maintain and report on fully resourced and costed project programmes using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project
- Prepare project estimates, manage project costs and track variations affecting programme and budget
- Provide accurate progress updates and reporting in line with agreed work instructions
- Identify key schedule and cost variances and present findings via reports, dashboards and graphs
- Support Project Managers with programme development, trend analysis and forecasting
- Liaise with subcontractors to collect progress data and update programmes accordingly
- Verify invoices against work completed
- Prepare tender estimates and undertake cost analysis
- Support feasibility studies and establish client requirements
- Perform risk and value management and cost control activities
- Advise on procurement strategy and support subcontractor allocation
- Analyse project outcomes and produce detailed progress reports
- Value completed work and arrange payments
- Ensure awareness and compliance with health, safety and regulatory requirements
Person Specification Qualifications
- Project planning qualification or minimum 3 years' relevant industry experience - Essential
- Membership of a relevant professional or technical body - Desirable
- Level 2 Health & Safety in the Workplace or equivalent - Desirable (training can be provided)
Experience & Knowledge - Experience working on design and engineering projects - Essential
- Proficient in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project - Essential
- Experience within the nuclear or similarly regulated industry - Desirable
- Working knowledge of contract management functions and relevant legislation - Desirable
- Comfortable handling confidential and commercially sensitive information - Desirable
- Familiarity with QSHEW procedures and requirements - Desirable
