About the opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Contract Engineering Lead (CEL) to join our Technical Directorate (TD) within the Site Buildings Team. This is a key leadership role responsible for managing the design and delivery of contract buildings for the site, including critical facilities such as:

  • Emergency Response Centre

  • Back-up Emergency Equipment Store

  • Main Access Control Building

  • Chemical Products Storage

  • Oil and Grease Storage

  • Off-Site Delivery Checkpoint

  • Outage Access Control Building

  • Associated slabs



You will oversee the design process from basic design through to detailed design, working closely with external designers and a multi-disciplinary project team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as Responsible Designer for contracts.

  • Manage design delivery to meet time, quality, safety, and scope requirements.

  • Coordinate technical activities across multiple workstreams and stakeholders.

  • Prepare and manage Scope of Works, technical specifications, and design schedules.

  • Ensure compliance with UK context, safety, and regulatory requirements.

  • Lead design reviews, constructability assessments, and configuration control processes.

  • Support risk management, change control, and cost/schedule impact assessments.

  • Provide technical oversight and guidance to internal teams and suppliers.


Here's What You'll Need:
  • Proven experience in design management for large, multi-discipline infrastructure projects.

  • Strong technical knowledge of building design and construction standards.

  • Familiarity with nuclear safety/security requirements and UK regulations.

  • Excellent understanding of RIBA Plan of Work 2013 or equivalent.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Architectural, or Process Engineering.

  • Eligible for National Security Vetting (CTC).


Desirable:
  • Chartered Engineer status.

  • Experience in nuclear industry or highly regulated environments.

  • Knowledge of UK Building Regulations and EPR design.
