Description:


Our client is seeking a Head of Engineering to lead their engineering function within the nuclear sector. This permanent role requires SC clearance and involves shaping strategy, driving performance, and ensuring compliance across all engineering activities. As part of the senior leadership team, this role strengthens collaboration and supports long-term business success.



Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead the engineering function and shape the engineering strategy.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration and alignment.
  • Communicate priorities clearly and uphold organisational values.


Engineering Delivery

  • Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
  • Mentor leaders and develop future talent.
  • Oversee engineering planning, performance, and resource allocation.


Innovation & Improvement

  • Evaluate new ideas and technologies.
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain and improve engineering processes, standards, and tools.


Capability & Resources

  • Maintain engineering capability and subject matter expertise.
  • Own training, recruitment, and competency frameworks.
  • Manage resource deployment and succession planning.


Risk & Compliance

  • Ensure engineering activities meet regulatory and internal requirements.
  • Lead proactive risk identification and mitigation.
  • Maintain engineering risk registers.


Business Support

  • Provide technical leadership for internal decision-making.
  • Support internal proposals and opportunity reviews.
  • Contribute engineering insights to leadership reporting.


Job Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Degree in an engineering or technical discipline.
  • Experience in a senior role within a regulated industry.
  • Experience in engineering management or project leadership.


Experience & Skills

  • Proven senior engineering leadership.
  • Strong people leadership and communication skills.
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary engineering delivery.
  • Strong risk and compliance awareness.
  • Broad engineering knowledge and experience in complex projects.
