Description: Principal People are recruiting for an experienced Health and Safety Manager to join a growing heavy lift and logistics business operating across major infrastructure, energy and nuclear projects.

This is a strategic, predominantly office-based role, reporting into the QHSE Director, with responsibility for leading and developing the HSE function across the group .
You will provide governance, oversight and clear direction to senior leadership while supporting operational teams across multiple high-profile UK and international projects.

What you will be doing:
  • Lead and manage the HSE function across the group
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation and internal systems
  • Develop and implement the company HSE management system in collaboration with the Quality function
  • Report HSE performance, trends and compliance to the SLT
  • Develop robust measurement and reporting systems to drive continuous improvement
  • Support site teams through guidance, coaching and practical solutions to HSE challenges
  • Work closely with senior leadership to embed a strong, proactive safety culture
  • Oversee two HSE Supervisors operating across major project sites
  • Conduct audits, inspections, investigations and training as required
The successful candidate will hold:
  • NEBOSH General Certificate as a minimum
  • Experience within heavy civil engineering, infrastructure, energy, nuclear, marine or utilities sectors
  • Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation and compliance requirements
  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders and driving behavioural safety improvements
  • The ability to operate both strategically and operationally, supporting office and site teams as required
