| Description: | Role Title: Radiation Protection Advisor Start date: ASAP Working: Hybrid or potential for remote work. If remote, you must attend initial induction and introductory meetings in person, and be available to attend site if required by business needs. Hours: 37 hours Monday - Friday
Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Radiation Protection Specialist to provide technical expertise and deliver training within a defence environment. The successful candidate will support radiation protection and dosimetry services, ensuring compliance with regulatory and defence standards while delivering training to military personnel. The role combines subject matter expertise with training delivery and stakeholder engagement, maintaining high standards of safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Key Accountabilities Lead the delivery of radiation protection and dosimetry services within assigned technical areas, ensuring outputs meet high standards for quality and efficiency. Ensure radiation protection practices and dosimetry processes are technically robust and compliant with regulatory and industry standards. Support the development and improvement of radiation protection capability, including radiological metrology and dosimetry services. Promote the adoption of technical developments and best practice within radiation protection disciplines. Lead by example, encouraging collaboration, continuous improvement, and adaptability within the workplace while maintaining high standards in environment, safety, health, security, and quality.
Key Responsibilities Act as a subject matter expert in radiation protection, health physics, or dosimetry. Deliver training and guidance to personnel operating within defence environments, including armed forces personnel on military bases. Develop and enhance radiation protection capabilities within areas of responsibility. Work closely with stakeholders to understand operational requirements and improve service delivery where possible. Promote a "right first time" quality culture across technical work. Participate in continuous professional development and knowledge sharing to ensure alignment with industry best practice, and represent the organisation at relevant professional or industry forums when required.
Essential Requirements Familiarity with radiation protection management within defence environments, particularly JSP 392. Experience delivering technical training. Confidence delivering training to armed forces personnel on military sites. Experience in radiation protection, radiobiology and/or dosimetry. Understanding of Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017. Professional certification through RPA 2000.
Desirable Experience Previous experience delivering training within the defence sector or working in a regulated nuclear or defence environment.
