Senior EC&I Designer - Sellafield Ponds Programme
Contract 51- 56/hour (Inside IR35)
Warrington Hybrid - 3 days on site / 2 days remote
Sector: Nuclear Decommissioning Sellafield Ponds

We are seeking an experienced Senior EC&I Designer to support major engineering works within the Sellafield Ponds Programme, one of the most complex and high-hazard decommissioning challenges in the UK nuclear sector.

This role will see you taking a senior position within the EC&I design team, leading the development, review, and delivery of high-integrity design packages for safety-critical systems. You will play a key role in ensuring designs meet strict nuclear safety, regulatory, and engineering standards while supporting project delivery across multidisciplinary teams.

Working within a collaborative engineering environment, you will provide technical guidance to designers and engineers, contribute to design reviews, and ensure the production of high-quality EC&I design documentation.



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of EC&I design packages supporting Sellafield Ponds projects

  • Produce, review, and check drawings, schematics, and technical documentation for safety-critical systems

  • Ensure all design outputs comply with Sellafield procedures, nuclear safety standards, and regulatory requirements

  • Support and contribute to design reviews, hazard studies, and technical assurance activities

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including mechanical, structural, and project engineering

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level EC&I designers

  • Assist in the verification, validation, and substantiation of engineering designs



Requirements

  • Significant experience as an EC&I Designer within the nuclear sector or other highly regulated industries

  • Strong understanding of electrical, control, and instrumentation design principles

  • Proven experience producing and checking engineering drawings, design documentation, and technical deliverables

  • Familiarity with Sellafield standards, processes, and design assurance requirements

  • Ability to support technical leadership and mentoring within a design team

  • SC clearance preferred, or the ability to obtain
