Description:

Morson Edge is delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Quality Engineer to join a major infrastructure project within the UK nuclear sector. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering work to the highest quality and nuclear safety standards while working alongside multidisciplinary construction teams on a nationally significant project.

As Quality Engineer, youll be responsible for ensuring quality assurance and quality control processes are effectively implemented across your allocated work packages. Youll carry out inspections, support the resolution of non-conformances and work collaboratively with construction teams to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards and stringent nuclear quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Quality Control
Carry out site inspections and quality surveillance activities to verify compliance with drawings, specifications and nuclear safety requirements.
Work closely with site teams, suppliers and subcontractors to promote a strong quality culture and ensure quality standards are consistently achieved.
Identify and resolve minor quality issues in collaboration with construction teams.
Escalate significant quality concerns or non-conformances where nuclear safety or specification requirements are compromised, recommending work stoppage where necessary.
Support the investigation of non-conformances, review corrective actions and monitor remedial works through to successful close-out.
Assist with identifying quality trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
Coordinate quality inspections with the client and relevant stakeholders.
Prepare and submit Notices for Inspection (NFIs).
Record inspection findings accurately and contribute to ongoing quality reporting and performance improvement initiatives.
Quality Documentation
Maintain accurate, complete and traceable quality records in accordance with project procedures.
Ensure all documentation is securely stored and readily accessible for audit purposes.
Maintain project quality registers and logs.
Compile, review and interpret inspection, testing and analysis results.
Support the Quality Manager in the development and continuous improvement of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), quality plans and associated procedures.
Collaboration & Communication
Build strong working relationships across project teams, subcontractors and suppliers to promote best practice in quality management.
Provide advice and guidance on quality matters, encouraging proactive feedback and continuous improvement across the project.

This role profile is intended as a guide to the main responsibilities of the position. From time to time, you may be required to undertake other duties commensurate with your skills, experience and level of responsibility.

About You

To be successful in this role, youll have a strong understanding of construction quality management, excellent attention to detail and experience working within highly regulated environments.

Essential Requirements
HND or Degree in Construction, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
Demonstrable experience of quality control and inspection activities within a construction environment.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
Strong record-keeping and report-writing skills.
Good IT skills and confidence using digital systems.
Valid CSCS Card.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable Experience
Civil Engineering experience, including structures, highways or infrastructure projects.
Experience working within the nuclear sector or another highly regulated industry.
ISO 9001 training or practical knowledge of Quality Management Systems.
Working towards, or holding, a recognised professional quality qualification.
Knowledge of ISO 19650 and digital engineering principles.
Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams.
Familiarity with engineering and project management software.
