The Opportunity We re seeking a Project Quality Manager to join a highly skilled team on a contract basis. This is a key leadership role in a technically complex environment, offering the chance to drive quality standards, support project success, and influence industry-leading practices. The Role Employment Type: Contract (this role has been deemed inside IR35) Duration: 12 months Location: Cheshire Rate: £65.00 to £75.00 per hour Your duties and responsibilities will be - Lead quality assurance and quality control across designated engineering projects.
- Guide and mentor a team of Quality Engineers and QC Inspectors, coordinating daily activity and ensuring alignment with project goals.
- Support all project quality matters ensuring documents, procedures, and standards are fully compliant and effectively implemented.
- Develop and maintain a Right First Time culture, promoting quality awareness across cross-functional teams.
- Coordinate compliance with nuclear regulations, standards, and licensing conditions.
- Take part in audits and drive timely corrective actions as needed.
- Review supplier and contractor quality documentation and provide expert feedback.
- Monitor project progress through established metrics and KPIs.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to resolve quality issues and ensure robust processes.
You will have the following qualifications & experience - Strong Technical Background in electrical, mechanical, systems, or instrumentation engineering.
- Bachelor s Degree in a relevant field preferred (e.g. Technical Process Management, Quality Management).
- Proven experience as a Project Quality Manager in large-scale, high-compliance sectors experience in the nuclear industry is highly desirable.
- Solid understanding of international quality standards: ISO, ASTM, DIN, BSI.
- Experience developing Quality and Inspection Plans, managing certification processes, and driving compliance in complex projects.
- Proven experience coordinating and leading a team of quality professionals.
- Internal or Lead Auditor certification (IRCA/CQI) preferred.
- Competency with Microsoft Office tools and quality management systems.
- Excellent communication and coaching skills fluent in English.
- Willingness to travel as part of the role.
