What you'll be doing:
- Ensuring we are completely focused on maintaining and promoting a high level safety culture, being led by a proactive and hands on manager taking their team with them.
- Day to day management of a small team of wastewater technicians, both operations and MEICA skill sets, to operate and maintain wastewater assets across a wide geographic area covered by our contracts, with occasional cross contract management responsibilities in periods of holiday and sickness.
- Responsible for the financial management of operational budgets, cost control and optimisation of resources through innovation, using data and existing operational skills to maximise the efficiency of your budget.
- Ensuring compliance against statutory environmental permits and discharge consents through MCERT monitoring and audit.
- Reacting to emergency situations under pressure and within tight timescales.
- Undertaking and complying with training as required, including confined space training, COSHH, Chemical handling and awareness, etc.
What we're looking for:
- Education to degree level, CMI Level 3 Diploma in principles of management and leadership, or equivalent NVQ qualification. or willing to undertake CMI level 3 training.
- Existing record of proven people management skills.
- A high level of risk awareness/criticality and the ability to utilise processes and systems to influence capital investment decisions and reduce your operational risks.
- Logical and pragmatic approach to problem solving under pressure.
- Proven technical knowledge of wastewater operations and plant control using data and analysis to support decision making.
- Practical understanding and use of CDM legislation to deliver small scale capital investment projects.
- The ability to manage CMMS systems, to plan and deliver planned and corrective maintenance.
- A high level of computer literacy and organisational skills.
- The ability to support and develop teams through periods of change, to coach and mentor individual performance and support the development of skills and knowledge.
- Full clean driving licence.
- IOSH, managers health and safety certificate.
- General awareness in the use of operating procedures and safe systems of work.
- Able to operate mechanical/electrical plant and equipment associated with your operational responsibilities.
- An understanding of the importance of security within nuclear, MoD and airport contracts.
- Must be able to pass a Security Clearance procedure in line with Ministry of Defence Vetting, as well as a Police CRB background screening assessment. Obtain SC and DV and maintain.
- A background in wastewater management and operation and sewerage network management and operation would be desirable
