The Company:

I m working with a growing, specialised engineering business based near Burnopfield, Gateshead. This company is targeting significant growth, aiming to scale to £5 million in turnover over the next few years. They operate in highly specialised sectors including nuclear, defence, and major infrastructure projects, and offer full end-to-end services including bending, fabrication, welding, laser cutting, and paint processes.

You ll be joining a business that s growing rapidly and investing in its people offering long-term development, a stable working environment, and genuine progression routes into more senior commercial or management positions.

Job Description:

As an Estimator, you will play a vital role in supporting the estimating and sales function, reporting directly to the Commercial Manager. This is an ideal position for someone with strong fabrication or metalwork estimating experience, looking to expand their commercial skills and take more ownership of client engagement and contract management.

The Estimator will be responsible for preparing and submitting detailed quotations for access metalwork projects, working closely with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure accurate and timely estimates.

You will also support broader commercial activities, including developing client relationships and assisting with contract and project handover as required.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an Estimator to work on a variety of interesting projects, including a major £600K+ Teesport contract and new work in the nuclear/defence sector.

Skills & Experience:

To succeed as an Estimator, you should have:

  • Experience in estimating access metalwork, sheet metal, or general fabrication
  • The ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Strong communication skills confident speaking with clients and suppliers
  • A proactive and detail-oriented mindset
  • Some exposure to contract or commercial management is desirable but not essential
