As a Nuclear Safety Inspector – Quality Management, you’ll play a vital role in this work while bringing credibility to everything you do. 

What you’ll be doing:
The nuclear industry is evolving fast – and you’ll be central to its transformation. Your work will be critical to the decarbonisation of the UK’s economy; our national defence; and the decommissioning of our nuclear legacy. 
As a Quality inspector you’ll assess duty holders’ quality capability. This includes the processes and arrangements in their management system that ensure the delivery of their objectives, with due priority to safety. It will mean scrutinising duty holders’  arrangements to ensure that management systems are effectively established, implemented, and subjected to assurance and continual review in all safety matters. There may also be the chance to represent ONR/UK internationally.

From day one, you can expect thorough training. This will ensure you have the regulatory abilities required in this crucial role. 

What do you need to be great for this role?
As a Nuclear Safety Inspector, you’ll have a degree (or equivalent) in a Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related discipline and membership of a relevant professional body. You’ll also have considerable expereinceof quality management good practice in the nuclear sector, or equivalent high hazard industry, and the design, implementation and review of management systems. In short, you’ll have the ability to evaluate key quality management arrangements.

Whatever the level of your technical expertise, you will need the ability to communicate clearly with a range of contacts, judge complex technical issues, and influence others. Respect, credibility and humility will be needed if you want to connect with and persuade duty holders. 
Membership of a relevant professional body would be an advantage.
