The Role

We're looking for a talented, hands on Project & Quality Engineer to own the management and deliverables of specialist projects and to drive continuous improvement across our production processes. You'll be central to our journey towards AS9100 and Fit for Nuclear (F4N), acting as a quality champion between engineering, purchasing, production and our customers.

What You'll Do
  • Own quality and reporting for specialist projects, ensuring strict adherence to contractual, regulatory, and customer requirements.
  • Plan and manage build execution with engineering, purchasing and production; track milestones, risks and cost/quality impacts.
  • Create Project Quality Plans, flow down customer hold/witness points, and coordinate inspections both in house and at suppliers.
  • Perform incoming and in process inspections of components and sub assemblies; travel to subcontractors when required.
  • Act as Welding Coordinator: develop/maintain WPS/WPQRs, organise procedure tests, and support welder qualifications.
  • Perform NDT - MPI, LPI, VT, Weld Inspection and coordinate outsourced NDT where applicable.
  • Develop and implement technical procedures; research standards; specify and procure inspection/test equipment to prove compliance.
  • Maintain and improve management system procedures to achieve/retain certifications in ISO9001, while supporting efforts to achieve AS9100, F4N.
  • Lead/coach RCA and CAPA using structured methods (5-Whys, Ishikawa, 8D); verify effectiveness.
  • Compile lifetime record packs to demonstrate compliance with contract and quality standards.
  • Implement recommendations from external assessments e.g., UKCA/CE and close actions.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
  • Education: Degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Welding/Materials, or similar. Substantial relevant experience in an engineering/manufacturing role will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • NDT: PCN L2 in MPI, LPI, and VT, plus PCN L2 Weld Inspection or CSWIP 3.1 or committed plan to achieve within agreed duration.
  • Auditing: ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor.
  • Welding standards: Working knowledge of ISO 15614 and ISO 9606.
  • Delivery: Proven experience running quality on complex, fabricated products in a heavy manufacturing environment with a strong understanding of fabrication techniques and welding processes.
  • Skills: Strong technical writing, data handling, and the ability to turn standards into practical, shop floor procedures.
