Certain Advantage are recruiting on behalf of our established Engineering client for a number of Mechanical Engineers on a permanent basis to support important Nuclear projects in the UK.

They require Mechanical Engineer with previous experience within the nuclear sector or other highly regulated industries such as thermal power generation or oil and gas and process sectors.

The Role is to undertake work packages supporting major UK and international Nuclear Clients.

Key Responsibilities

Lead / support the development of the DR5 designs for the Personnel Airlocks PT252 , Main Equipment Access Hatch PT251 and Fuel Transfer Channel PT253 , Piping Penetrations PT260 , Electrical Penetrations PT270 and Specialist Nuclear Doors PTTBD . This will require embedment into the DR process, and its applied governance and core deliverables.

Produce and collate all deliverables for DR5s and run the DR5 review. Deliverables will include (but not limited to), a DFMEA, a HAZID, Human Factors checklists, Risk Register updates, design calculations, Method of Manufacture report, material selection decision record, PFMEA, build schedule and cost model, CAD files and drawings as well as continually updating all DOORS modules (requirements, assumptions, design definition and component safety classifications).

The role will be part of an expanding team and will require collaboration with new and existing FTEs/secondees.

Experience Required
  • Skilled in managing and coordinating diverse engineering teams.
  • Ability to define modelling outcomes and ensure accurate implementation.
  • Experienced in budgeting and planning for full design lifecycles.
  • Strong track record in designing and optimizing cooling water systems.
  • Well-versed in ONR, Environment Agency, and HSE regulations.
  • Skilled in gathering and defining technical requirements.
  • Strong understanding of integrated design principles.
  • Experienced in overseeing and coordinating subcontractors.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) - Professional accreditation in a relevant discipline.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility - Capable of obtaining SC clearance for secure projects.
