Supplier Quality Engineer Hinkley Point C

We are recruiting a Supplier Quality Engineer to join a leading Tier 1 engineering services provider supporting the delivery of Hinkley Point C, one of the UK's largest and most complex infrastructure projects.

This is a home-based role with regular travel to supplier sites across the UK (and occasional EU travel), together with periodic visits to the Bridgwater and Bristol offices. All business travel expenses are fully covered.

Working as part of the Supplier Quality team, you will ensure suppliers consistently meet project quality requirements through supplier qualification, supplier auditing, quality assurance and continuous improvement activities across a diverse supply chain.

The Role

You will work closely with suppliers, procurement, engineering and construction teams to improve supplier performance, ensure compliance with project quality requirements and support the successful delivery of a nationally significant infrastructure programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct supplier qualification and supplier audits
  • Monitor supplier quality and delivery performance
  • Develop supplier improvement plans and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Review Contract Quality Assurance Plans (CQAPs)
  • Review Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and manufacturing documentation
  • Investigate non-conformances using root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Support source inspections and manufacturing kick-off meetings
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement and construction teams
  • Ensure supplier compliance with ISO 9001 and project quality requirements
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers across the UK and Europe

Requirements Essential

  • Certified ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor
  • Experience within Supplier Quality, Supplier Development, Quality Engineering or Quality Assurance
  • Good understanding of manufacturing and inspection processes including fabrication, extrusion, coatings and NDT
  • Experience leading supplier audits and improvement activities
  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience within a regulated industry
  • Strong communication, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills

Desirable

  • Experience within Nuclear or another highly regulated industry such as Defence, Aerospace, Rail, Oil & Gas or Pharmaceutical
  • CQI, IRCA, ASQ CQE or equivalent professional membership
