Quality Assurance Manager

58,000 - 63,000 DOE Aylesbury (HP19) Permanent, Full-time

Contek Recruitment are representing their client, a growing and ambitious engineering manufacturer operating within a highly regulated environment.

We are looking for an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to take ownership of the Quality Management System, drive continuous improvement and ensure consistently high standards across manufacturing and operational processes.

This is a hands-on quality leadership role ideally suited to a Quality Manager with a strong engineering/manufacturing background and experience across welding, fabrication, machining and metalwork processes.

The Role

- Lead and develop the company Quality Management System (QMS)

- Maintain and continually improve ISO 9001 accreditation and associated procedures

- Lead internal and external audits, ensuring actions are completed effectively and on time

- Take ownership of the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) process, including root cause analysis and corrective actions

- Produce and monitor quality metrics to identify trends, recurring issues and improvement opportunities

- Work closely with Production, Engineering, Procurement, Logistics and Operations to improve quality performance

- Review existing subcontractors and support the approval and auditing of new suppliers

- Maintain high quality standards across welding, fabrication, machining and wider metalwork processes

- Develop, implement and maintain quality procedures, documentation and systems

- Provide training and guidance to wider teams on quality, problem-solving and improvement techniques

- Promote a strong quality culture throughout the organisation

- Drive LEAN and Continuous Improvement initiatives to improve processes and reduce waste and non-conformances

- Work alongside the wider Quality team to maintain skills matrices and development plans

- Support compliance requirements within a highly regulated engineering environment

- Support the ongoing development and implementation of quality systems across the business

About You

- Proven experience within a senior Quality Manager, Quality Assurance Manager or similar position

- Strong experience within engineering, manufacturing or another highly regulated industry

- Proven knowledge and practical experience of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems

- Experience working with welding, fabrication, machining and metalwork processes

- Strong understanding of NCR, root cause analysis and corrective action processes

- Experience planning and leading internal and external audits

- Experience using LEAN, Continuous Improvement and structured problem-solving techniques

- Confident working across Engineering, Production, Procurement and Operations

- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to train, coach and influence wider teams

- A pragmatic, hands-on approach to quality and problem solving

- HND or equivalent qualification in a STEM subject is essential

- Degree-level STEM qualification would be advantageous

- ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or Auditor accreditation would be advantageous

- Aerospace, Defence, Nuclear or other highly regulated industry experience would be advantageous

- Knowledge of AS9100, PED, ASME VIII and welding standards would be beneficial

Key Responsibilities

- Ensure accreditation reviews, internal audits and external audits are planned and delivered on time

- Monitor and support the timely completion of root cause investigations and corrective actions

- Maintain consistently high quality standards across engineering and manufacturing operations

- Identify opportunities to reduce non-conformances and improve manufacturing processes

- Support Operational Excellence through LEAN and Continuous Improvement initiatives

- Work with the wider Quality team to maintain competency and development plans

- Ensure effective implementation and ongoing improvement of quality systems

- Work with internal departments and external suppliers to resolve quality issues
