The Opportunity An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Test Team Leader to join our client's reputable and well-established team of nuclear specialists continuing to deliver cutting edge solutions to key UK projects. The Role The EC&I Test Team Leader (Commissioning) is normally expected to undertake the following: Undertake or manage site surveys as required, undertake or manage Toobox talks within the team as required, undertake or manage observations, variation and reworks, develop test specification & design testing methodology with the team, develop site work documentation with team input as necessary (risk assessment, method statement, site test documentation), develop O & M documentation with input from project team as necessary, supervise full integrated system testing, CFAT, SAT and installation & calibration testing if required. Rate: Up to £50 - 55/hr (Outside IR35, subject to full status determination) Location: Reading, site-based Working Hours: Up to 50 hours per week Your duties and responsibilities will be - Provide technical leadership and guidance to commissioning and engineering teams
- Lead the execution and supervision of commissioning procedures for control circuits, VSDs, AHUs, and various control devices (level, flow, temperature, pressure)
- Complete and manage all relevant project documentation in line with company and project standards
- Oversee the preparation, execution, and reporting of commissioning tests per written procedures
- Interpret and apply information from vendor documentation, project drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues to ensure completion of commissioning scope
- Maintain adherence to quality processes and drive project compliance
- Assign and track tasks across the commissioning test team
- Support Project Commissioning Engineer with delivery planning, scope control, and risk identification
- Provide hands-on H&S leadership, ensuring compliance with all Safe Systems of Work
- Build strong working relationships with both internal teams and external stakeholders
- Contribute to project strategy, documentation development, and opportunity identification
- Conduct or manage site surveys and toolbox talks
- Develop test specifications and methodologies in collaboration with the team
- Lead the creation of site documentation including RAMS, test records, and O&M documentation
- Oversee or directly manage testing phases such as CFAT, SAT, and installation/calibration verification
- Monitor and manage project variations, rework, and technical observations
You will have the following qualifications and experience - Significant technical background in Electrical, Instrumentation & Control systems
- Demonstrable experience leading commissioning teams in complex environments, ideally within the nuclear industry
- Proficient in supervising and developing multi-disciplinary test teams
- Strong documentation, safety, and compliance mindset
