Project Engineer

Role: Project Engineer - Major Infrastructure (Civils Focus)
Location: London

12-month rolling contract Competitive Day Rate

Are you a civil or structural engineer with experience on major infrastructure projects? Are you ready to make an impact on one of the UK's most ambitious low-carbon megaprojects?

About the Role

You'll join the Civil Works Programme's Engineering & Technical function, helping drive forward the design, technical assurance, and integration of complex civil structures across the site. You'll work with multi-disciplinary teams, technical stakeholders, and leading suppliers to shape the technical direction of this landmark project.

Key responsibilities:

• Support the definition and validation of technical requirements for heavy civil engineering structures (e.g. reinforced concrete, structural steel).
• Contribute to technical design assurance and governance processes.
• Manage technical risks, design changes, and open points.
• Interface with design delivery teams, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure alignment with construction, programme schedules, and regulatory frameworks.

What We're Looking For

Must have:

• A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
• Strong knowledge of large-scale civil engineering design and construction.
• Experience delivering technically complex infrastructure projects.
• A collaborative, technically minded approach with excellent communication skills.

Nice to have:

• Progress toward chartership (MICE/MIStructE).
• Experience in regulated or nuclear infrastructure environments.
• Familiarity with British Standards and modern design practices.

Location & Working Style

• London-based with flexible hybrid working.
• Occasional travel to Ipswich and Bristol required.
