Overview:
Our client, a leading UK cost consultancy, is seeking to appoint two experienced Interim Quantity Surveyors to support a high-profile nuclear infrastructure programme based in Barrow-in-Furness. These roles will provide commercial support to an ongoing programme of works involving complex stakeholders, NEC contracts, and strict regulatory governance.
This is an excellent opportunity for QS professionals with strong NEC experience and a background in infrastructure, defence or nuclear environments. The role offers hybrid working, with 3 days per week required on-site and 2 days remote.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver full post-contract commercial support across nuclear-related capital projects
  • Provide cost management, contract administration and commercial assurance in line with NEC3/NEC4 contracts
  • Manage valuations, variations, compensation events, and final accounts
  • Support procurement processes and contract negotiations where required
  • Provide accurate cost forecasting, budget tracking, and risk analysis
  • Liaise with client teams, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure commercial best practice
  • Support the client in complying with all governance, reporting, and audit processes relevant to the regulated nuclear sector
  • Identify and manage commercial risks across the portfolio
Requirements:
  • Proven track record as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within complex infrastructure or defence projects
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC3 or NEC4 contracts
  • Experience in highly regulated environments such as nuclear, defence, energy, or large-scale infrastructure
  • Comfortable operating in client-side consultancy teams
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and commercial reporting skills
  • Strong working knowledge of cost control tools and Excel
  • SC Clearance preferred (or ability to obtain - active BPSS minimum)
