Abatec is working in partnership with a respected civil engineering and groundworks contractor based in Bridgwater. With a strong presence across Somerset, South Wales and Devon this contractor delivers essential infrastructure across a wide range of sectors including flood alleviation, defence, nuclear and residential with projects including highway upgrades, drainage systems, and coastal resilience schemes with values ranging from £100k to £15m.

Our client is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their supportive and close-knit commercial team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop their career.

As Assistant Quantity Surveyor you will:

• Assist in the commercial management of 23 live projects simultaneously.
• Support in the preparation and processing of subcontractor payments, take-offs, variations, CVRs, and final accounts.
• Maintain accurate records to monitor cost and value performance against agreed targets.
• Contribute to change control processes, ensuring variations are tracked and managed effectively.
• Take part in the review and improvement of internal procedures and systems.

Our client requires a Quantity Surveyor with:

• Experience working for a groundworks or civil engineering contractor.
• A degree (or equivalent qualification) in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
• Strong commercial awareness with a proactive approach to cost control and value optimisation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
• A valid UK driving licence and the flexibility to travel to local project sites when needed.

Assistant Quantity SurveyorSalary/Benefits:

• Up to £45,000 per annum
• Car or car allowance
• 25 days + bank holidays
• Employer pension contribution
