As a Senior Design Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll be at the forefront of advanced mechanical design, supporting the UK's nuclear deterrent and contributing to national security. You'll lead a small team of engineers, guiding the design process for refit support equipment used in submarine systems. This is a unique opportunity to work on complex, high-integrity engineering challenges that span mechanical, fluid, and nuclear-adjacent systems.

Day-to-day, you'll lead and mentor design engineers, develop advanced mechanical solutions, perform technical analysis, and ensure compliance through cross-disciplinary collaboration.

• Leading and mentoring a team of design engineers, reviewing and checking their work.
• Creating and developing advanced mechanical designs using CAD and simulation tools.
• Producing technical reports and documentation to support engineering decisions.
• Conducting calculations and technical analysis for pressure systems and fluid flow.
• Collaborating across disciplines to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.

• Proven mechanical design experience in a professional engineering environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and health and safety legislation.
• Experience in highly regulated industries such as rail, aviation, oil & gas
• Knowledge of pressure systems, CAD, component simulation, fluid flow analysis, or submarine system design

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification/experience - Desirable

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
