An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with in-pond mechanical handling experience to design rigs, tooling, and storage equipment to join a major project design team.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of an established team working on a high-profile infrastructure project within the nuclear sector. The role offers the chance to work in a dynamic and forward-thinking environment delivering a project of national importance. The successful candidate will work closely with the Project Engineering Manager, multidisciplinary project teams, and the client on a fast-paced project.



Key Responsibilities


  • Ensure all plans, drawings, and quantities are accurate and suitable for engineering calculations.

  • Manage and control design documentation, including drawings and technical specifications.

  • Maintain configuration control of engineering deliverables.

  • Liaise with client designers and other discipline teams to ensure compliance with applicable design and construction regulations.

  • Provide regular progress reports and updates to the Mechanical Responsible Engineer.

  • Plan and prioritise work effectively, adapting to setbacks and resolving technical challenges as they arise.

  • Use industry-standard CAD, coordination, and 3D scanning software to enable accurate transfer of site data to the design team.

  • Provide input and technical support for Design and Constructability Reviews as required.


Required Experience & Skills


  • HNC/HND in Engineering (or equivalent qualification).

  • Strong operational plant knowledge and experience working within a live operational environment.

  • Experience using engineering document management and configuration control systems.

  • Positive, proactive attitude with excellent communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to work effectively across diverse project teams.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance for work within a regulated industry environment.


Working Arrangements


  • Full-time position - 40 hours per week (Monday-Friday).

  • Flexible working arrangements aligned with project and client requirements, including regular attendance at project offices and/or site locations as required.
