Rate: 70 per hour (Umbrella PAYE)
Working Pattern: 3 days on-site / 2 days remote
Start: ASAP (subject to security clearances)

Overview


We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead quality assurance and compliance activities at a major Nuclear Enrichment Facility in the North West. This senior role is ideal for candidates coming from the nuclear sector or other highly regulated industries, with strong leadership ability and a deep understanding of regulatory standards, QMS governance, and continuous improvement.



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Quality function across engineering, manufacturing, site operations, and project delivery.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the facility's Quality Management System in line with nuclear regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee internal and external audit programmes, supplier quality assurance, and compliance reporting.
  • Chair quality review boards and drive accountability for NCRs, CAPA processes, and quality performance.
  • Provide expert quality input into design reviews, technical assessments, and safety processes.
  • Manage and mentor a team of quality engineers and inspectors.
  • Engage with regulators, clients, and senior stakeholders to ensure alignment with industry standards.
  • Implement and promote Lean/Six Sigma methodologies to enhance efficiency and eliminate waste.


Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Quality Manager or Senior Quality Lead within nuclear, defence, aerospace, pharmaceutical, or similarly regulated environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of nuclear quality standards, regulatory frameworks, and compliance obligations.
  • Demonstrable success managing QMS development, audit programmes, and quality governance.
  • Leadership experience, including mentoring teams and driving cross-functional quality culture.
  • Eligible to obtain UK security clearance (SC or higher).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.


Desirable Criteria

  • Direct experience in the nuclear industry or high-hazard, safety-critical environments.
  • Lean Six Sigma or Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or above preferred).
  • Local to the North West or within realistic commutable distance for regular on-site attendance.
  • Experience managing supplier quality and overseeing complex supply chains.
