Shape the Future of the UK's Nuclear Fuel Cycle

We're recruiting three experienced Senior Process Engineers to join a high-profile programme supporting the UK's Reprocessed Uranium (RepU) project.
We are particularly interested in senior-level engineering professionals with proven knowledge and practical experience of the Simul8 (TRAM) package. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your process engineering and simulation expertise to one of the UK's most strategically important nuclear initiatives.
The position is location agnostic, offering flexibility for candidates based across the UK. Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you'll provide process engineering expertise throughout the project lifecycle, supporting concept development, simulation, design, technical assurance and engineering delivery on complex nuclear process systems.

The Role

As a Senior Process Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and process engineering support across a range of engineering activities, ensuring solutions are safe, compliant and fit for purpose.
A key aspect of the role will be applying Simul8 (TRAM) to support process modelling, simulation and engineering decision-making. You'll work closely with mechanical, EC&I, civil, safety case and operations teams to develop robust process solutions that meet programme objectives.
Typical responsibilities will include:

  • Applying Simul8 (TRAM) to support process modelling, simulation and analysis.
  • Developing and reviewing process models to support engineering studies and design decisions.
  • Delivering process engineering solutions from concept through to detailed design.
  • Producing and reviewing process engineering documentation including PFDs, P&IDs, mass and energy balances, design calculations and technical reports.
  • Supporting process safety studies including HAZID, HAZOP and design reviews.
  • Developing process specifications and engineering design packages.
  • Using engineering analysis and simulation to assess process performance and support optimisation.
  • Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering teams to resolve technical challenges.
  • Supporting regulatory compliance and nuclear safety requirements.
  • Providing technical input into design reviews, client meetings and stakeholder engagements.
  • Mentoring junior engineers where appropriate and supporting technical governance.

About the Project

The role supports the Reprocessed Uranium (RepU) programme, focused on the management and future utilisation of uranium recovered from spent nuclear fuel.
This nationally significant project offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative engineering solutions within one of the UK's most complex and highly regulated sectors, using advanced process simulation and modelling techniques to inform engineering decisions.

What We're Looking For

You'll ideally have:

  • Degree qualification in Chemical or Process Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Significant experience working at Senior Process Engineer / senior engineering professional level within the nuclear sector or another highly regulated industry.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of the Simul8 (TRAM) package.
  • Experience developing and using process models/simulations to support engineering studies and decision-making.
  • Experience producing process design documentation and engineering calculations.
  • Knowledge of nuclear process plant design and engineering standards.
  • Experience participating in HAZOP, HAZID and other process safety activities.
  • Strong understanding of engineering design lifecycles and multidisciplinary project delivery.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards) would be advantageous.

Security Requirements

Due to the nature of this work, candidates must be eligible to obtain Security Check (SC) Clearance.

What's on Offer?

  • 3 exciting contract opportunities
  • UK location-agnostic working, providing flexibility for candidates across the UK
  • Flexible hybrid working arrangements, with site attendance as required
  • 12-month contract
  • Competitive rates of 63.00- 76.00/hour Umbrella or 46.85- 56.46/hour PAYE
  • Opportunity to contribute to a nationally significant nuclear programme
  • Work alongside leading engineering specialists on technically challenging projects
  • The opportunity to apply Simul8 (TRAM) expertise to a major UK nuclear programme

If you're a senior-level Process Engineer or engineering professional with Simul8 (TRAM) experience and are looking for the opportunity to contribute to a strategically important nuclear programme, we'd love to hear from you.
