Role Overview This strategic hire is driven by rapid growth and ambitious project pipelines in space electronics. As a Senior / Lead Electronics Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and qualifying electronics for a state-of-the-art Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite platform. Your expertise will directly influence our client's next-wave space missions, with opportunities to lead projects, mentor colleagues, and set the technical direction for electronics development across programmes. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end development of space-grade electronic systems, from initial requirements capture to flight-ready hardware.
- Design, prototype, and review analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit boards, ensuring they meet stringent space standards.
- Oversee schematic creation, component selection, PCB layout, and manufacturing considerations.
- Develop and execute comprehensive testing, validation, and qualification plans, including environmental stress testing.
- Ensure all designs comply with space-specific requirements such as radiation hardening, EMI/EMC standards, and thermal management.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of electronics into satellite subsystems.
- Provide technical guidance through project reviews, and champion best practices within the electronics domain.
- Contribute to process improvements and establish robust technical standards for future hardware development.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years' hands-on experience designing electronics for high-reliability or aerospace environments.
- Proven experience in developing space electronics or similarly mission-critical systems.
- Strong expertise in analog and digital electronics, schematic design, PCB layout, and hardware bring-up.
- In-depth understanding of space-specific constraints such as radiation effects, EMC/EMI compliance, thermal considerations, and reliability practices.
- Demonstrated success in leading hardware development from concept through testing and qualification phases.
- Familiarity with EMI/EMC testing standards and procedures relevant to space hardware.
- Experience in reliability analysis, including derating, worst-case circuit analysis, and FMECA.
- Ability to interface electronics with sensors, actuators, RF components, and avionics systems.
Preferred Additional Skills
- Prior leadership or mentoring experience within engineering teams.
- Background in satellite or spacecraft electronics development.
- Expertise in radiation-tolerant design and mitigation techniques.
- Experience with environmental testing such as thermal vacuum, vibration, and shock testing.
