The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the delivery of mechanical engineering activities across a diverse portfolio of nuclear and infrastructure projects.

Working closely with Project Managers, Principal Engineers and multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality engineering solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards and supporting the successful delivery of projects from concept design through to commissioning and operational support.

Hybrid working is available, with the role based from either Warrington or Leicester.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for delivering mechanical engineering solutions across all phases of the project lifecycle, including the production, review and approval of engineering calculations, technical reports, design basis documentation, drawings and engineering models.

You will manage assigned engineering work packages, working closely with Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams to achieve project objectives, monitor progress, identify technical risks and support planning, estimating and resource management activities.

You will ensure engineering activities comply with relevant procedures, codes, standards and regulatory requirements, while contributing to Project Safety Assessment, configuration management, design governance and engineering assurance activities.

The role will also involve regular client and stakeholder engagement, participation in technical meetings and design reviews, resolution of technical challenges and the provision of clear engineering advice.

You will work collaboratively across engineering disciplines, share technical knowledge, support junior engineers where appropriate and contribute to the continuous development of engineering capability and best practice across the wider business.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience delivering mechanical engineering solutions within complex engineering environments.
  • Strong understanding of engineering design principles, project delivery and engineering governance.
  • Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams and managing a broad range of engineering tasks.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • A proactive approach to technical delivery and continuous improvement.

Previous nuclear experience is not essential. We welcome applications from engineers working across sectors including defence, aerospace, oil & gas, energy, utilities, manufacturing, rail, marine, industrial process and other highly regulated industries.

Qualifications

  • HNC or HND in Mechanical Engineering (minimum), or equivalent engineering qualification and relevant industry experience.
  • Degree-qualified candidates or those working towards Chartered Engineer status are encouraged to apply.

Security Requirements

Due to the nature of the projects, successful applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain UK Security Check (SC) clearance.
