This is a high-responsibility role, managing HV and LV systems through pre-construction and construction phases, with oversight of decommissioning plans, risk mitigation, and technical documentation.
You will bring expert knowledge in electrical systems, regulatory compliance, and decommissioning best practices, working closely with programme teams, contractors, and the Plant Safety Team to ensure successful execution of complex electrical decommissioning projects.

Key Responsibilities
Electrical Decommissioning Management

  • Lead electrical decommissioning planning, including schedules coordinated with waste, logistics, and site interfaces
  • Conduct site surveys to identify assets for isolation, removal, or disposal
  • Perform risk assessments and implement electrical hazard mitigation measures
  • Supervise disconnection, removal, and safe disposal of electrical equipment (transformers, switchgear, panels, wiring, generators)
  • Maintain electrical drawings, isolation registers, method statements, risk assessments, and technical reports

Stakeholder Engagement & Interface Management

  • Engage with programme stakeholders, contractors, and suppliers to define requirements and manage interfaces
  • Present technical artifacts at gate reviews and communicate engineering strategy
  • Coordinate with principal designers and contractor teams for smooth execution

Technical Leadership & Knowledge Transfer

  • Provide expert advice to resolve delivery challenges using creative solutions and lessons learned
  • Mentor and train engineers, sharing knowledge and building capability across the programme
  • Reach back to the parent organisation for best practices and technical guidance

Compliance & Best Practice

  • Ensure electrical decommissioning meets regulatory, legal, and UKAEA standards
  • Verify compliance with end-state requirements and traceability matrices
  • Apply UK design codes and standards, including BS 7671, and LOTO procedures

Deliverables

  • Discovery & Initiation Phase: Develop decommissioning schemes, hazard assessments, plant inventory, and risk mitigation strategies
  • Pre-Construction Phase: Produce detailed decommissioning plans, engineering designs, method statements, and feasibility studies
  • Construction Phase: Supervise execution, verify compliance, manage interfaces, and ensure safe removal and disposal of electrical systems
  • Ongoing: Stakeholder engagement, advisory support, knowledge transfer, and lessons learned
