The Project

We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist construction contractor working on one of the most significant infrastructure projects in the UK. Hinkley Point C is the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations, with two new nuclear reactors currently under construction in Somerset. This is a long-term, ongoing project offering exceptional career opportunity for the right candidate.

The Role

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team at Hinkley Point C. You will be responsible for managing all commercial and cost management activities across your designated package of works, operating within a highly regulated nuclear construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing costs and commercial performance across your designated works package
  • Preparing and submitting valuations, variations and final accounts
  • Administering NEC contracts and managing early warnings and compensation events
  • Liaising with subcontractors, clients and the wider commercial team
  • Preparing cost reports and forecasts for senior management
  • Reviewing and assessing subcontractor applications and invoices
  • Supporting procurement activities and tendering processes
  • Maintaining accurate commercial records and documentation
  • Ensuring compliance with all contractual obligations and site procedures

Requirements

  • Qualified Quantity Surveyor with a minimum of three to five years post-qualification experience
  • MRICS qualified or working towards accreditation
  • Strong knowledge of NEC contracts essential for this project
  • Experience on large-scale infrastructure, civils, industrial or energy sector projects
  • Proven ability to manage commercial processes independently
  • Excellent numeracy, communication and reporting skills
  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment preferred nuclear, energy or pharmaceutical

Additional Requirements for Hinkley Point C:

  • BPSS security clearance (or willingness to obtain)
  • EDF site induction (completed prior to start)
  • Nuclear safety awareness training
